Meet Our Brokers
Jay Hollon, PCO, Licensed Broker
In
his hometown of Orlando, Florida, Jay Hollon began working with
a national pest control firm in 1963. He worked his way through
the ranks as a pest control technician, a salesman, and then
manager. By 1969, he was fully certified in every category and
had obtained six years of valuable
experience. He became so valuable to his company
that he was sent to various cities to help new offices get
started. After a while he realized that it was time to use this
knowledge
and experience to open his own company. In 1970 he settled
in Lakeland where he operated his own offices for several years.
After years of company growth
through sales, he decided to try another avenue,
growth through acquisition. His first purchase
was successful in several ways. By purchasing an existing
business, he immediately obtained trained employees, valued
equipment, tax advantages, and most importantly, customers. Jay
became an advocate of acquisition and purchased several pest
control companies throughout the years. He became the largest
independent
pest control owner in his area.
As a fully certified pest control operator, with over 30 years
experience, he decided to take a different path and in 1985 he
sold his company's three branch offices. With his combined
experience of business ownership and the skills he developed in
acquisitions Jay began
Preferred Business Brokers.
Since 1987, Preferred Business Brokers has brought outstanding
success to its clients, many of them lifelong friends and
colleagues in the pest control industry.
Rand Hollon, PCO, Licensed Broker

Rand grew up in the pest
control industry. He has a lifetime of experience. He is
certified in all areas of pest control and a licensed agent at
Preferred Business Brokers.
After receiving his B.A. in
communications at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Rand
worked for the international ad agency of Ogilvy & Mather in
Atlanta. During his tenure, he worked on advertising and
marketing campaigns for American Express, C&S Bank, Centers for
Disease Control, Charter Medical, Curtis 1000, Equifax, Hardees,
Harris 3M, Shoney's Restaurants, and others. In addition, Rand
also performed special project work for Anheuser-Busch and
Coca-Cola. In 1989, Rand Hollon gave up
the advertising business for family life in a small town and a
small business...a small pest control business.
Taking a page from his father,
Jay Hollon's play book, it didn't take long to grow his business
into one of the largest independents in Marion County, Florida.
Although the company always enjoyed a healthy share of "organic"
growth through advertising and satisfied customers, it was
several key acquisitions he made over the years that ensured the
great growth and financial success of this company. Rand also
benefited from a close relationship with many of his competitors
in the area who often called to discuss the prospects of making
a future acquisition themselves or future exit strategies.
Rand developed the same taste
for brokering after following the same steps as his Dad.
He sold his business to join his Dad at Preferred
Business Brokers. Together, they create quiet transactions
where buyers and sellers get their best deal.
